The Graduate Works Solution
Organisations want graduate schemes that deliver what they promise. This takes skill and careful design. Particularly because the expectations of all the different stakeholders are so different and hard to meet.
The Graduates want instant success and opportunity. Executive managers know they want a scheme but then are difficult to pin down on exactly what they want it to deliver. The line managers, who will manage the graduates, don’t want anything else which adds to their responsibilities. They are already understaffed, short of time and have lots of other commitments to meet. And HR has its neck on the block if any of these different requirements are not met!
We offer development solutions which solve this problem.
We understand the tensions and the problems you face. We have experienced and worked through it from all the different perspectives. More importantly over the last three years we have worked with companies to deliver solutions that break out of the current limitations and deliver what all the stakeholders want.
Our specialist skill is to help companies get the results they need from their graduate schemes.
The outcome we deliver is graduates motivated and fired up to succeed, senior managers who can see that their investment is having visible results, line managers who want graduates to work with them and an HR team with less work to do and a better reputation
OUR INSIGHT
Most companies are good at delivering training. HR teams have a network of suppliers they use who understand what the business wants and how a company works. However, for most graduate schemes it doesn’t seem to quite work. One off training interventions don’t move people forward enough in their thinking and behaviours to generate sufficient change to make a difference. (The skills that the graduates learn, though clearly filling a need, are not the ones which turn your graduates’ potential into success.)
The graduates we have seen succeed stand out from the crowd because they can answer yes to the following questions
- Do I know what I want to achieve for myself and my organisation?
- Do I know what I am going to do now and in the future to achieve it?
- Am I able to negotiate the shifting sands of my organisation's political reality to get things done?
- Do I know how to get the best out of other people and get them working with me?
These are areas our programme, The Fusion Foundry™, works on. As success is an attitude as well as a set of skills, we help your graduates believe in themselves and what they can go and achieve. This is what we are successful at doing.
Do we mean just graduates? Of course not, we work with young talent whatever their background in their first few years at work to get them closer to what they can achieve for the company.
When is the best time for you to work with our people? We work with people in their first, second and third years. It really depends on the issues your organisation faces, which is most appropriate.
To highlight some groups we work with: high potentials at the start of their career, second years who have been selected as demonstrating performance and the next push to even higher levels of success and people who clearly have talent but have not yet found the route to expressing it at work.
Do we have one hundred percent success rates? No, not everyone finishes our courses as superstar success stories. However, we do have a big impact on them. Their direct line manager has an even bigger one.
